Our award-winning Connected Driver Advisory System is fully signalling connected, designed to operate on both TMS and non-TMS routes, seamlessly switching between the two in real-time dependent on the route to provide a continuous stream of real-time updates and in-trip advice to the driver.
At KeTech we’re always looking to the future, that’s why we adopt a cloud-first strategy so we can offer agility, scale and constant development and upgrades. Real-time data and data analysis are at the heart of our Connected Driver Advisory System (C-DAS), this requires a high level of integration which is done best with cloud technology.
C-DAS is often mistaken for a Stand-alone Driver Advisory System (S-DAS/DAS), unlike these systems, KeTech’s system uses reliable signalling-derived information supplemented by Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) information to provide real-time contextual and accurate driver advice. An energy-efficient speed profile which considers timing points, line speeds, speed restrictions, and the train’s characteristics and capabilities is advised to the driver. This allows the system and both the driver and operator to achieve common goals such as meeting the timetable, reducing costs, reducing energy usage – electric or diesel.
Real-time changes from the rail network are processed immediately and updated advice presented to the driver. C-DAS draws from its numerous connections and data feeds to deliver clear, contextually aware information to the driver avoiding confusion and ensuring all advice remains current.
KeTech’s C-DAS algorithms have been developed from many years of research, train simulation knowledge and experience in industry leading real-time data systems. Our base DAS algorithms use performance characteristics unique to each train fleet – torque, acceleration, weight/loading profile etc. which is combined with infrastructure data and track geometry. KeTech’s C-DAS is unique as it fully integrates real-time signalling data along with other industry data sources to provide the best driver advice available.
The system is designed to operate on both TMS and non-TMS routes, seamlessly switching between the two in real-time dependent on the route to provide a continuous stream of real-time updates and in-trip advice to the driver. The system comes complete with comprehensive reporting tools, collecting data, identifying trends to assist timetable optimisation, support driver evaluation and reports on C-DAS operation.
KeTech specifically designed the system with flexible deployment options; C-DAS can be integrated into existing PIS (provided as a software-only solution) fitted to new trains or installed on the operator’s devices, fixed or mobile.
KeTech’s C-DAS is proven in real-world situations and has the potential of saving operators up-to 20%* on rolling stock fuel/energy costs without the need for ETCS or a Traffic Management System.
